World No. 1 female golfer Yani Tseng claimed another NW Arkansas Championship title on the LPGA Tour, edging out Korean-born Amy Yang in the playoff with a four-foot birdie.
The two golfers headed into the playoff after closing with a three-under 68. But Yang who has yet to claim a win on the LPGA Tour did not manage to capture it at the NW Arkansas Championship as she failed to make a six-foot birdie while Tseng performed the winning shot.
Tseng, 22 heads the leading scoreboard of the tour with five wins claimed this season, including two major wins in the Women’s British Open and the LPGA Championship.
And now the Taiwanese golfer won $300,000 to increase her prize-winnings $2,116,051.
Ai Miyazato of Japan placed third at eleven under 66 while American Cristie Kerr took fourth position. Sandra Gal of Germany, Amy Hung of Taiwan and Belen Mozo of America tied for fifth while world no. 9 Paula Creamer turned in a miserable performance after five initial birdies.
Yani Tseng has already won five majors, being the youngest player to do that. With players like Annika Sorenstam, Paula Craemer, Amy Yang and Yani Tseng, the LPGA Tour is becoming as strong as the PGA Tour.
