Tough Decisions For Colin

Martin Kaymer has pulled out of next week’s Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. His victory at the USPGA Championship has secured his Ryder Cup debut at Celtic Manor.

There are now only two more events counting towards the Ryder Cup points total and skipper Colin Montgomerie is likely to have some tough decisions to make when it comes to announcing the Wild Cards.

Big names including Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Padraig Harrington have found themselves outside of the qualifying places. Donald been the most recent casualty and suffered relegation after Kaymer’s victory at Whistling Straits.

All three of the golfers decided against attending the qualifying event in Gleneagles next week opting to play in the FedEx Cup play-off series instead. Paul Casey slipped into an automatic pick position after finishing joint 12th on Sunday but the Englishman has also opted to compete in the PGA Tour event.

The Italian brothers of Edoardo and Francesco Molinari are both looking to make the squad and will be competing in the qualifying event next week.
