Elin Nordegren, Tiger Wood’s ex-wife, has splurged $12.2 million of her up to $110 million divorce settlement money, in a North Palm Beach, Florida mansion even as Woods also purchased a property nearby to be closer to his children.
Huffington Post reported that the 17,178-square feet beach-front mansion of Nordegren, which is equipped with a 4,700 basement and up to eight bathrooms, is only 10 miles away from the new bachelor pad of Woods in Jupiter, Florida.
Wood’s 12-acre property is unlike most bachelors pad though not only because of the $50-million price and size, but because it boasts of a lap pool, an elevator, a 6,400-square foot media room, gym and bar and a 3.5 –acre practice facility.
“[The practice facility] features four greens, six bunkers with different depths and kinds of sand, a video center and a putting studio,” Woods wrote on his blog last week. “It’s also set up so I can hit shots out of my second-story studio.”
The Daily Mail reported that the couple have decided to live close to each other for their children’s sake despite the finalization of their divorce in August. The children live with Nordegren although Woods share the custody of 3-year old Sam and 2-year old Charlie.
Woods recently revealed in an interview the difficulties of raising his children after the divorce.
“It’s work. There’s no doubt. It’s tough but enjoyable,” he said. “That’s the work that I love. I just love being with them and seeing what they’re doing, what they’re capable of doing, the joys, the shifts of interest.”
“Family’s first,” he added. “That’s what it was when I was growing up. My mom and dad were always there, they were always present for me and that’s how I am with my kids now.”
