Golf has always been an aristocratic game, but sometimes it arouses brutish emotions. Tiger Woods’ ex-caddie Williams made a racial slur at a banquet for caddies that came for the HSBC Champions tournament in Shanghai, China. When asked about why he said that the Bridgestone Invitational victory with Australian Adam Scott has been better than any of his numerous major wins with Woods, Williams answered that he “wanted to shove it up his black arsehole”.
Apparently, Williams is still angered that Woods sacked him in July after working with Tiger for thirteen out of his fourteen major victories.
Though the caddie swiftly apologized for his comment on his site, some British media called upon his current employer Adam Scott to sack Wiilams. But though the Aussie called his caddie’s comment stupid, he refused to fire him.
However, passions have died down as Woods forgave his former caddie for the insult. The two of them met and talked the accident through. Woods said that Williams was not racist and that everything was forgiven.
Woods and Scott with Williams will play in the Australian Open soon, and, hopefully, there will be no animosity between them. And sometime later, the two players will face each other on the opposite sides at Presidents Cup next week.
