Sony Playstation Games coming to Android with Playstation Suite
After unveiling the Next Generation Portable which is the successor of the Playstation Portable, Sony has once again delighted the gaming public by announcing that the release of PlayStation Suite will bring PlayStation games to Android devices.
The “Legendary PlayStation Content” will be brought to Android handsets and tablets through the service according to Kaz Hirai of Sony. The games for PSOne will also be available for download.
Developers will be able to create “PlayStation-quality” content on a hardware-neutral framework through the PlayStation Certified service. These will also be compatible with NGP when done with testing and QA support.
The rise of smartphone gaming means that “the environment surrounding portable gaming has undergone a radical transformation since the launch of PSP,” said Hirai.
“We envision PlayStation Suite as an initiative that is essential to the world of portable entertainment,” he said. PlayStation Suite content will be available before the end of the year
In the meantime, gaming addicts are already awaiting the release of the Sony NGP which will debut by end of 2011.
The PS Suite content will be provided by Sony within this calendar year. This will start with the original PlayStation games which will provide “PlayStation quality” to users.
It will soon be easy to download content directly through the Android-based portable devices with the PlayStation Store which Sony plans to open. This will offer developers and publishers more opportunities to further expand their portable devices-based businesses.
This may be a big step for Sony but it is necessary if it is to battle Apple and stay at the top of the portable gaming industry.
