Cycling buffs in central Ohio are gearing up for the annual Lifestyle Family Fitness Ride Inside charity fundraising event. This four-hour indoor stationery bicycle ride supports the LiveStrong Foundation and the local chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
Instructors will lead participants through routines filled with race intervals, hills and mountain climbs all set to fun and exciting music. “Last year we had more than 170 riders and we raised more than $4,000 for cancer research,” says event organizer and Lifestyle Family Fitness group fitness instructor Alice Wickham, whose father is a cancer survivor.
“Riding for four hours sounds like a struggle, but it pales when compared to what people do every day to overcome their battle with cancer,” adds Wickham.
All adults 18 and over are welcome to attend. The event starts at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 28, and will be held at the Lifestyle Family Fitness located at 7611 New Market Center Way in Columbus. Participants may ride for two hours or for the full four hours. A short break and a door prize for riders will be given at the top of each hour, and a Yoga for Cyclists session will be held to stretch sore muscles.
Registration is $25 for two hours or $45 for four hours, and all proceeds go to the sponsored charities. Lifestyle Family Fitness members receive $5.00 off the registration fee. All pre-registered participants will receive a complimentary event t-shirt.
To register, visit www.active.com and search for “The Ride Inside.” To arrange an interview with Alice Wickham, please contact Chuck Downs by phone at 727-456-3100 or by email at cdowns@lff.com.
