Golf Magazine has launched a new application via Facebook which allows up to 32 fantasy match-ups of players in the Fab Foursome Bracket Challenge.
How about matching up Sandra Day O’Connor and Warren Buffet, Biz Stone versus Mark Zuckerberg or maybe Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bill Gates?
Dick Raskopf, publisher of Golf Magazine, said they came up with the application after the appearance of actor Will Ferrell in the magazine’s big fall issue this year. Apparently, Ferrell offered to help the magazine’s grander promotion scheme this year.
Numerous ideas revolving on social media were considered by the “Golf” folks. It got inspiration from the bracket style promotions of the March Madness issue of Sports Illustrated for its annual Swimsuit issue.
Don’t expect the Fab Foursome Bracket Challenge to be an elite club because even those competing in the “Artists & Entertainer” bracket like actress Halle Berry and Ferrell are actually hackers and worse than their handicaps of 36.
It is tragic that no matter how he loves the game and how he works hard at it, Charles Barkley is known for being a bad golfer.
Among the best golfers in the fantasy lineup are Paula Creamer versus Michelle Wie, Woods versus Nicklaus and Palmer versus Mickelson.
“Golf” estimates a 3 handicap for Pittsburgh Steeler Ben Roethlisberger. A handicap of 4.6 was estimated for Peyton Manning of Indianapolis. Michael Jordan, with a 1.2 handicap is the game’s non-golf pro.
Users are excited to know who among the “Leaders & Influencers” would be the top player and there are plenty to choose from including Donald Trump with a 4 handicap. With a 29 handicap, daughter Ivanka does not stand a chance against Trump in the first round of the Fan Foursome.
Among the closer “Leaders & Influencers” matches are Gates with 27 handicap and Schwarzenegger with 24 and Bill Clinton with a 15 handicap and Rush Limbaugh with 18 handicap.
Buffet, who was a golf fanatic in his youth, was matched with former Supreme Court Justice O’Connor with a 13 handicap. When asked about his game these days, he said “Lucky to break 100 would be a very generous appraisal of my current abilities.”
Added Buffett, who is 80: “In a fantasy matchup game, the only spot I would qualify for is caddy (probably would only last nine holes).”
