Cesc Fabregas Should Abandon Arsenal, Laporta Says
Former Barcelona president Joan Laporta believes that Cesc Fabregas should come back to Barcelona and ‘abandon’ Arsenal, just like Gerard PIque did when he left Manchester United to move back to Barca
After his move from the Camp Nou to the Old Trafford in 2004, Pique barely played during his time in Englamd, despite the fact that the Red Devils got him for free as at the time Gerard was not yet old enough to have a professional contract
Now Laporta believes that Fabregas should have followed a similar route and made his way back to the Nou Camp.
“I would have liked it if Cesc came to Barca in the way Pique came,” Laporta is quoted as saying by The Mirror.
“He abandoned Manchester United, making it clear he was going to Barca. He and Cesc are players that were formed here.
“The English come here to do fishing. They came to fish for Pique and Cesc. It’s an issue of justice, we now want to recover them.”
That “justice”, however, may have to wait, as Laporta maintained that signing the midfielder is not something the club views as an urgent matter.
He said: “Signing Cesc is not urgent but he is a great player.
“I think next season or the one after he could come to Barcelona.”
