Two months have passed since Tiger Woods abruptly fired his long-time caddie Steve Williams, shocking Williams and the entire world. But a vacant place never remains unoccupied. It has been reported that Tiger Woods hired Joe LaCava as his new caddie.

For some, the decision of LaCava to swap world number four Dustin Johnson for Tiger Woods who has not won any event in the past two years may seem a bit strange. According to report published on the former world number one golfer’s website, it was LaCava who came up to Woods and offered himself as a candidate for this position. Woods did not think for long and decided to hire the LaCava who has successfully worked as a caddy for Fred Couples and Dustin Johnson.

Not everybody approves this caddy change. Swing coach Butch Harmon who was the one to recommend LaCava to Dustin was shocked by this switch. Butch said he was disappointed that Woods did not ask Johnson for permission to talk to LaCava but was not surprised.

Johnson claimed a victory at The Barclays with LaCava and did not expect a split. The most probable reason why LaCava decided to switch sides is because he wanted to spend more time with his family. And while Johnson will probably become a European Tour member next year which will make his schedule even busier, Woods has always played in a limited number of tournaments.

We will see how successful this partnership will turn out to be at the Frys.com Open in October and the Australian Open and the Presidents Cup in a few months.
