Anthony Kim Injury

American Kim is likely to miss the St Andrews Open this year due to a recent operation on his thumb.

Anthony Kim hasn’t been in action since the beginning of May when he underwent surgery on a thumb injury which came shortly after him impressing at the Masters in April. He will likely make a final decision on the injury shortly before the Open tees off but will certainly be disappointed to miss the prestigious event at the home of golf.
The 25 year old had also been playing with a torn ligament in the early part of the season, but said: ”Compensating for it was starting to cause other issues, including a sore shoulder.”

Anthony Kims main priority at the moment is to regain fitness for the Ryder Cup where he was the star of their victory team two years ago. Kim is currently second in the US Ryder Cup rankings and if he is to return for the Open will have four more events to secure a spot on the Ryder Cup team lead by Corey Pavin.

Among other doubtful for the St Andrews Open is David Toms who has been battling with a shoulder injury for a few months which now leaves two potential spots open for players previously unable to compete.

This spots will go to Ricky Barnes and Davis Love who current hold the two highest non-exempt spots in the world rankings at 64th and 68th respectively after finished two and five strokes at the qualifying event.
